Terms of Service
Last updated: 9 April 2026
1. What Paced is
Paced is a web-based academic study planner designed for university students. It helps you organise your coursework deadlines, plan daily study sessions, and track your progress throughout the academic year. The service is provided by Paced (“we”, “us”, “our”) and is available at pacedplanner.com.
By creating an account or using any part of Paced, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Paced. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have the consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
3. Your account
You sign in to Paced using Google authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activity that occurs under your Paced account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately.
You may only create one account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used in ways that could harm the service or other users.
4. What you can do with Paced
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Paced for your personal academic planning. This means you may:
- Import your university deadlines via iCal feeds or manual entry
- Connect your Google Calendar to help us schedule around your existing commitments
- Use the AI study coach to receive personalised study plans and advice
- Upload course materials for use with the study features
- Track your study sessions and progress
You may not reverse-engineer, scrape, resell, or redistribute any part of Paced. You may not use the service to store or transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes on the rights of others.
5. Your data and content
Any content you add to Paced — task titles, notes, uploaded files, chat messages — remains yours. We do not claim ownership of your content. We use it solely to provide and improve the service for you.
When you connect third-party services (such as Google Calendar or a Blackboard iCal feed), we access only the data necessary to provide the features you have opted into. We describe exactly what we access and why in our Privacy Policy.
6. Free and Pro tiers
Paced offers a free tier with core functionality and a paid Pro tier with additional features. The Pro subscription is billed monthly or annually through Stripe. Prices are displayed before purchase and include applicable taxes.
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through the Settings page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain Pro features until then. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time, except where required by law.
We may change Pro pricing with at least 30 days’ notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before any price change takes effect.
7. AI features
Paced uses third-party AI services (currently Google Gemini) to power study planning, micro-step generation, and the study coach chat. AI-generated content is provided as a study aid and should not be treated as academic advice, medical guidance, or a substitute for professional support.
We send contextual information about your courses, deadlines, and study patterns to the AI provider to generate relevant responses. We do not send your email address, password, payment details, or any data unrelated to the study features. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Paced available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may need to perform maintenance, deploy updates, or make changes to features. Where possible, we will give advance notice of significant changes.
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days’ notice and offer a way to export your data.
9. Limitation of liability
Paced is a study planning tool. It does not guarantee academic outcomes. We are not liable for missed deadlines, incorrect scheduling, or any academic consequences arising from the use of our service.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data, study tasks, chat history, and connected service tokens within 30 days.
We may terminate your account if you materially breach these terms, after giving you reasonable notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach where appropriate.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where consumer protection legislation in your jurisdiction provides otherwise.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of Paced after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
